  Cloquet started a bit slow in their volleyball match with Barnum on Thursday night at Cloquet High School, but once the Jacks found their stride they pulled away for a convincing 25-17, 25-9 and 25-21 victory over the Bombers.

  CLOQUET - Starting a new season after losing 10 seniors to graduation is hard enough, opening your season against a quality high-powered opponent is even harder. The Cloquet girls soccer team found out just how hard that can be on Friday, dropping their opening match to Rosemount by a score of 4-0.

  CLOQUET - The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey program has had a great history of churning out great players, but none of those players have gone on to play for the USA Women's National Under 22 select team. That is until this past week when it was announced that 2008 Cloquet graduate Montana Vichorek was named to the team in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

 On May 14th Cloquet held a different kind of track meet-- the “Relay Meet.” During this unprecedented competition, kids were able to try new events never heard of before.  Cloquet, Esko, Moose Lake-Willow River, Two Harbors, and Proctor track teams participated in this meet.

  CLOQUET - The search to replace longtime Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girl's hockey coach Dick Bartholdi may be nearing a conclusion. A committee who interviewed potential candidates has made a recommendation that assistant coach Mike Bushey take the helm of the program.

  Head Coach Roger Plachta of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellow Jackets softball team announced Tuesday his upcoming recruiting class for 2011. He announced six players joining his team next season including four incoming freshman and one transfer. Plachta also announced his captains for next season as well.

  CLOQUET - Tyler Tollerud was in the zone on the mound and the Cloquet hitters pounded out an 11-1 win over the Aitkin Gobblers in high school baseball playoff action at Ed Mettner Field in Cloquet on Wednesday afternoon.

  Sunday night was the first time in 31 years that former Cloquet star athlete Debbie Hunter had stepped back in a Lumberjack gym. Hunter, the guest speaker for the Cloquet athletic banquet, was welcomed back with a standing ovation. The banquet is held annually to honor those athletes who have received a letter for playing sports at CHS.
