Arrowhead United Soccer Finishes Second In State

The Arrowhead United boys U-17 soccer team recently took second place at the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association State Tournament held in Coon Rapids. Arrowhead United is comprised of players from Hermantown, Proctor and Duluth Denfeld.

Rails Get 14-5 Home Win Over ML-WR

  The Proctor Rails improved to 3-1 on the season with a 14-5 victory at home Saturday over the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels. The Rails used a huge seven-run third inning to come away with the big Section 7AA match up victory.

K1 Girls All-Star Game Held In Cloquet

  CLOQUET - The fifth annual Fire and Ice All-Star Girl's hockey game was played at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center last night with Team Fire winning 5-2. Although the shots were a bit over what a regular game would be, the game was a hard fought, entertaining, all-out effort type of game rather than an exhibition style all-star event seen at higher levels of competition.

  St. Paul - Making their first ever state tournament appearance, the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall Mirage had high hopes. A bit of a slow start and a hat trick by Roseville’s Kayla Capistrant dashed those hopes, however. The Mirage fell in opening round action to Roseville by a score of 7-2.

  PROCTOR – First year Proctor Head Boys Soccer Coach Jesse Smith didn’t have to wait long to notch his first head coaching victory.  His Rails beat CEC 2-0 in their home opener Thursday afternoon in Proctor.

  PROCTOR - It isn’t everyday that your first hit of the ballgame scores your 5th run, but that is exactly what happened in Proctor’s 9-3 home win over Aitkin on Monday. Thanks to a series of walks, the Rails put 3 runs on the scoreboard before Justin Scanlon hit a two run home-run in the second inning.

Area Girls Basketball Teams Receive All-Academic Honors

  The Cloquet Lumberjacks, Esko Eskomos and Proctor Rails have been named to the All State All-Academic Team for 2010. Proctor and Cloquet are new to this season’s academic role, whereas Esko achieves this honor for the second straight year.
