Girls Hoops Teams Positioning For Section Seeding
Feb 20, 2012 As the 2011-2012 regular season starts to wind down, several local high school girls basketball teams find themselves jockeying for position as the section seedings will be determined this week. The sections no longer go by a point system but by a QRF rating system, which is based upon strength of schedule similar to how College Football teams are ranked. Read more

Broman And LCA Too Much For South Ridge
Jan 24, 2012 A lot if written about Anders Broman of Lakeview Christian Academy and that is rightfully so as the junior scoring machine is about to obliterate scoring records in the state. After Broman scored 40 points, and his Lions beat South Ridge 96-56 on Tuesday night, the Panthers got a firsthand look at the entire LCA team which is a very solid unit. Read more
South Ridge Boys Win Double Overtime Thriller
Jan 13, 2012 It is said there is nothing so meaningless than the first quarter score in an NBA game; because finding a winner always comes down to the end of the game. When South Ridge traveled to Hill City on Friday night, the effort and the individual stanzas weren’t meaningless by any stretch; but the first half, second half, and first overtime period scores were exactly the same and did not determine a winner. A never say die South Ridge team managed to outscore Hill City 6-3 in the second overtime to pick up the huge 61-58 road in on Friday night. Read more
Solid Second Half Helps South Ridge Split at Proctor Tourney

On Thursday afternoon Grussendorf guided his new team to a 60-43 victory over his old team with the help of a solid team effort by the Panthers in the third place game of the Proctor Holiday Tournament. Karppinen Pitches AlBrook To A 6-4 Victory
Apr 28 FLOODWOOD - The infield was a little soft, and the outfield had some soggy areas, but the playing conditions were good enough for AlBrook and Floodwood to play a high school baseball game in Floodwood on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons parlayed a sterling pitching performance by Bryce Karppinen into a 6-4 victory as they remained undefeated on the young season. Read more

Dec 30 PROCTOR - AlBrook-Cotton’s first appearance in the Proctor Holiday Tournament had mixed results for Coach Damien Paulson’s squad this week. AlBrook-Cotton took it on the chin in Wednesday night’s semi-final when the Warriors from Deer River beat the Falcons 75-47 but rebounded to beat Carlton 66-48. Read more

AlBrook Volleyball Off To A Great Start
Sept 27 AlBrook Head Volleyball coach Brad Olesiak did know what to expect out of his team coming into the 2010 season. With only two seniors and five brand new starters that include a couple of eight graders, the last thing Olesiak thought of was his team reeling off seven wins in their first eight games that included the first win over Cook High School in over twenty years. The latest meeting was Tuesday night with a similar result as the Panthers improved to 6-2 on the season with a 58-44 win at home behind the 20 points of Dan Wood and the 19 points of Kody Karppinen. Dec 12, 2011 Dan Wood of South Ridge became the school’s first 1000th point scorer as he notched his 1000th point in a 55-49 over the Nighthawks of Northeast Range on Monday night. Wood, a senior forward saw two teammates over the past two seasons at AlBrook garner the 1000 point plateau and Monday was his turn to make history. Read more

Dec 17 AlBrook - It was a special night at the AlBrook gym on Thursday night as Bryce Karppinen added another page to the long history of AlBrook Athletics. Karppinen scored his 1,000th career point and led AlBrook-Cotton to a win over the Wrenshall Wrens 69-64 in Saginaw. Read more
Tigers Prove Too Much For AlBrook
Oct 5 ALBROOK - The AlBrook gym was packed Tuesday night as the Falcons looked to stay in the race for the St. Louis County volleyball conference championship. The visiting Cherry Tigers had plans also as they were looking to all but clinch the conference crown. The Tigers moved a step closer to a conference championship with a sweep of the Falcons in three straight sets 25-16, 25-21 and 25-15. Read more
