  CLOQUET - The weather was perfect for a fall football game on Saturday when the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College 'Thunder' opened their home season against Minnesota State-Fergus Falls. The Thunder took advantage of the crisp day with some long plays from scrimmage early in the game and then held on for a 34-26 victory over the Spartans.

  The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Football team lost 21-6 to defending conference champion Central Lakes College in the season opening game for both teams on Saturday, August 28.

  The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College men's football team opened play for the 2010 season in near-perfect conditions on Saturday in a 21-6 loss to Central Lakes Community College of Brainerd.

  CLOQUET - Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College officially entered its fourth season of college football on Monday afternoon in hot and steamy conditions at Hilltop Park just across the street from the college. First year coach Keith Turner welcomed 38 athletes to the practice with temperatures hovering around the 90-degree mark as practice began.

  CLOQUET, MN– Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College announced today the hiring of two new members of the Thunder athletics department. Keith Turner will fill a newly created position of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach/Director of Student Preparedness.  Laura Sylvester has been named the Head Coach of the Thunder Volleyball program. Both staff members will lead their respective programs into the 2010 fall sports seasons.

  DULUTH - Mother Nature decided to make a statement on Friday night. With a howling off lake wind and a driving rain she did her best to make sure conditions would be difficult in Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College's 37-21 loss to Vermillion Community College. When playing with the wind each team shared an advantage, without it the complete opposite was true. Unfortunately for the Thunder, the Iron Men carried a much larger advantage during their time courting Mother Nature.

  Apparently the wake-up call didn't come until the second quarter for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College football team on Saturday. Trailing 14-0 the Thunder rallied for an impressive 20-14 overtime victory over the Itasca Vikings in Cloquet on a beautiful fall afternoon.

CLOQUET - It took just three plays from offense for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College football team to score on Saturday against Minnesota West Community and Technical College. Logan Wells darted off right tackle and went 71 yards for a touchdown to help send the Thunder to their first victory of the season 25-0 over the Blue Jays.

If the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder football team is going to start winning football games this season they will need to find a way to avoid interceptions and stay more consistent on the offensive side of the ball. On Saturday afternoon, the Thunder dropped a 36-21 decision to Minnesota State-Fergus Falls on the road after giving up two interceptions for touchdowns.

The talent of the FDLTCC football team was on display Friday evening. However, it was not their football skills in the spotlight, but rather their “real” talent. In a team building exercise, the FDLTCC coaching staff hosted their annual preseason talent show.

Third-year head coach Tony DeLeon expects a roster of more than 50 players to vie for playing time throughout the season.

  With new Head Coach Keith Turner leading the way, the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Football Team will open the 2010 season as the new recruits take the field for the opening day of practice on Monday, August 9. Head Coach Turner expects a roster of 45 players to be present on opening day.

  In conjunction with February Reading Month, several Fon du Lac Tribal and Community College athletes took time out of their schedule to read to students from Winterquist Elementary School in Esko on Wednesday.  Athletes read to kindergarden students from 12:00-1:30 pm and a good time was had by all.

  CLOQUET - At times, Saturday's football game between the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder and Ridgewater Community College Warriors resembled a game of hot potato. Each team was provided with many opportunities, but each team squandered their chances until finally both scored in the final quarter with Ridgewater winning 7-6.

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College football team has struggled to find wins this season. The Thunder held a one point lead on Northland Community College on Saturday afternoon, but they were unable to hang on and found themselves on the short end of a 20-13 score.

Two Thunder football athletes earned Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division player of the week honors for their performances in the Thunder's 25-0 victory over Minnesota West Community and Technical College on September 12.

  Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College running back March Jones turned in a stellar running performance in the Thunders game against MSCTC community college in Fergus Falls on Saturday. This Wednesday he was rewarded by being named offensive player of the week in the MCAC.
