   For the third week in a row the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women's fast pitch softball team has a player honored with "Player of the Week" in the North Division of the MCAC. Lisa Muehlberger, a freshman from Duluth Central, was given the honor after batting .706 for the week.

  The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women's fast pitch team completed a sweep of Vermilion Community College on Monday by scores of 9-0 and 13-7. Dana Letica pitched two complete games in helping the Thunder move up in the standings of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

  The youthful Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women's softball team mounted rallies in both of their games on Wednesday at Mesabi Range CC in Virginia only to fall short in a double header. The Thunder lost 8-7 in 11 innings in the opening game and then dropped a 15-7 affair in game two.

  The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women's fast pitch team will open regular season play at Braun Park today with a double header against Rainy River Community College. Game one is set to begin at 3 pm this afternoon.

  The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder softball team opens their 2010 season with two long days of play on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 16-17 as part of the Minnesota Classic Tournament inside the Irish Dome in Rosemount, Minnesota. The Thunder's schedule begins bright and early on Tuesday with a 7:15 a.m. start against Vermilion Community College, followed by games against Mesabi Range Technical College at 9:00 a.m., Dakota College of Bottineau, ND at 10:45 a.m., and a fourth game at 12:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined in the round robin tournament format.

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College has received oral commitments next season from eight area players. The Thunder are coming off their second season in school history, a season in which they won 20 games for the first time and advanced to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference State Tournament for the first time.

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder wrapped up the schools first-ever berth in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference state tournament last week. The Thunder took to the road and picked up wins over Mesabi Range and Rainy River before falling in tough back-to-back games in Cloquet to #1 ranked Itasca.

In just their second season as a program, the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women's softball team has been ranked in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Poll. After opening the season with a 5-1 record the Thunder are now ranked #5 in the rankings, which came out this weekend.

  After receiving numerous awards during the playing season, Megan Johnson a sophomore on the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College softball team, was named Academic All-American for the National Junior College Athletic Association this past week.

  The awards continue to roll in for the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women's softball team. Last week it was announced that four players from last year’s team were named to the Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference All-State All-Academic Team.

  CLOQUET - Through the first three seasons of Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women's fastpitch, the Thunder have reeled off 41 wins. That number is significant due to the fact the Thunder started their program from scratch just three seasons ago. With season four coming in the spring of 2011 the Thunder are far from resting on their laurels.

  The sound of thunder coming from the Braun Park Complex in Cloquet was not of the natural variety on Friday and Saturday. Instead it was the booming sound coming off of the bats of the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Women's softball team. The Thunder rolled to four straight victories over Vermilion Community College and Northland Community College.

  The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder softball team scored 31 runs in sweeping a doubleheader at home against Northland Community and Technical on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder won the first game by a score of 20-1 and the second by a score of 11-3.

  CLOQUET - The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College women's softball team opened league play with a pair of losses at home against Rainy River Community College on Tuesday night. The Thunder fell 14-8 in game one and then lost a tight 4-2 affair in the second game.

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women's softball team is a season removed from the most successful in their short program history. Last year, the Thunder elevated to the elite status by knocking off four nationally ranked opponents on their way to a #4 national ranking in the NJCAA.

While most coaches have taken the summer to look at players for next season, the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College softball team is continuing to add players for this season. On Monday, the Thunder received a verbal commitment from Moose Lake-Willow River shortstop Amanda Larson to play softball this upcoming season.
