It is said that without a lot of expectations, there isn’t a lot of disappointment and the greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment. Such was the case with the Moose Lake-Willow River football team on Friday. The Rebels came within one game of the lofty goal of winning a state championship; but fell to Caledonia by a score of 27-0. And, although the teams great disappointments were evident, they handled it with the utmost of class and respect for their opponents and displayed what high school sports are, or should be all about.
FDLTCC Football Team Members Sign To Play Division I Football
Feb 1, 2012 CLOQUET, MN – Two Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Football team members signed national Letters of Intent today to attend universities and play football at the NCAA Division I level next season. CLOUD- Four Years ago it was the Pierz Pioneers that routed the Rebels in the state quarterfinals and advanced to the state semi-finals, but Friday it was the Rebels exacting some revenge as they came from behind to defeat the Pioneers by a score of 26-20 at Huskies Stadium in St. Cloud. Aug 15 Today is the day! For most fall high school sports teams practice will begin today. That means don't be surprised to see cross country runners putting time in on our local roadways, soccer players on the pitch, the sound of football players calling out plays at football fields and volleyball teams getting their time in on the volleyball courts. UMD Hosts High School Football Camp
June 22 Despite the nearly constant pouring rain, athletes from Cloquet, Hermantown, and Proctor as well as several other local schools participated in the annual UMD high school football camp at Malosky Stadium. More than 950 area athletes attend the camp each year. Read more
Changes Coming To Section Football Next Season
Mar 24 Recently the Minnesota State High School League announced sectional changes to Boys and Girls basketball teams in our area; changes will occur as well in high school boy’s football beginning this fall with the 2011-2012 academic year. Read more

Barnum Falls To Minneota
Nov 13 The Barnum Bombers second state football appearance ended Saturday afternoon on the campus of St. Cloud State University as the Eagles of Minneota defeated the Bombers by a final margin of 45-6. The Bombers making only their second ever state football appearance fell to the defending state champions in the snow, wind and rain on Saturday afternoon. Read more
Esko Football Sets State Record In Friday's 63-49 Win
Oct 11 A lot of different words have been used to describe Friday’s football game between Esko and Deer River, which the Eskomos won 63-49. The words Thrilling, Exciting, and Breathtaking, were tossed around just to name a few. Now you can add one more descriptive word to that list, record setting.
