  The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team kicked off the high school tennis season with a 4-3 win at home over the Superior Spartans on Tuesday. In the win the Jacks to three of four singles matches and they notched a win at #1 doubles to clinch the victory at Cloquet High School.

  It was a much needed win for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton tennis team on Wednesday. The Jacks were playing in their final Lake Superior Conference match of the year and they came away with an impressive 4-3 victory over Duluth Marshall. CEC swept all the doubles matches and parlayed a win at #2 singles to propel them to the win.

  The lone win for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team came from Kelsey Collier at #1 singles on Tuesday night as the Lumberjacks were beaten 6-1 by the Aitkin Gobblers.

  It was a busy back-to-back couple of days of tennis for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team on Friday and Saturday. On Friday the Jacks downed Duluth Central/Denfeld 5-2 and on Saturday they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Ashland Oredockers.

  It was overcast and a bit breezy, but the rain held off on Tuesday afternoon allowing the Crosby-Ironton Rangers and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks to meet up on the tennis court in Cloquet. The final result saw the Rangers pull out a 4-3 victory over the youthful Jacks.

  Things didn't get an easier for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team on Tuesday. After suffering a couple of disheartening losses in the past week the Jacks have struggled to find wins, and Tuesday night was no different in a 7-0 shutout loss to Hibbing.

   The CEC girls tennis team made the trip to Duluth to take on Duluth East and and a combined Duluth Central/Denfeld squad, comming away with a split on the day. CEC fell to Duluth East 7-0 but claimed a 5-2 victory over Duluth Central/Denfeld.

  The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girl's tennis team wrapped up their season this past week. This year saw a marked improvement for the Jacks, who ended the year with a 7-8 mark despite having a very young group of players.
