  DULUTH -- Ryan Myhre threw a four-hit shutout as the Superior Lakers completed a perfect 14-0 Upper 13 League season with a 5-0 win over the Duluth Padres at Bulldog Park.

  The Cloquet boys 13 yr olds baseball team remained on a tear Thursday by beating Duluth Central by a score of 14-4 at the Little League state tournament at Braun Park. In the first two days of the tournament, Cloquet has outscored their opponants by a 28-7 margin. Esko rebounded from Wednesday’s loss to beat eastern by a score of 10-9.

  DULUTH -- The Oulu Blue Jays scored three runs in the eighth inning to pull away for a victory over the Duluth Padres in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game Wednesday evening at Bulldog Park.

  DULUTH - Bob Baxton hit a go-ahead RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth inning and Chris Vendela threw a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts as the Duluth Padres defeated the Twin Ports North Stars 5-3 in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game at Bulldog Park.

  PORT WING, Wis. -- Anthony Bush threw a complete game shutout as the Duluth Padres defeated the Port Wing Boilers 1-0 in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game Monday at Anderson-Samuelson Field in Port Wing.

  ST. CLOUD – The Proctor Rails baseball team put the wraps on the most successful baseball season in school history on Friday at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. In the Consolation Semi-Finals the Rails beat St. Anthony Village by a 4-1 margin to advance to the Consolation championship where they lost to Delano by a 5-1 score.

  DULUTH - It has been 35 years in the making, but the Proctor boys are headed back to state. The Rails captured the Section 7AA baseball crown with two wins over Hermantown Thursday night at Wade Stadium and with it a trip to the state tournament.

  HIBBING - Even good problems are problems all the same, such is the case of being a fan of Hermantown athletics these days. On Thursday they will need to choose between watching the Hawks softball team play in its fourth consecutive state tournament in Mankato or cheer on the baseball team in the section finals at Wade Stadium. The Hawks remain unbeaten in the Section 7AA playoffs with a 2-1 win over Mora on Tuesday at Bennett Park in Hibbing.

  HIBBING, Minn. -- The Hibbing Miners defeated the Duluth Padres 6-0 in a non-league amateur baseball game at Al Nyberg Field in Hibbing Tuesday night. The game was called after seven-and-a-half innings due to darkness.

A four run fourth inning by the Fairmont Cardinals blew open a 2-1 game, handing the Proctor Rails a 6-1 quarterfinal loss at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud on Thursday morning.  The Rails will now compete for a consolation championship tropy, starting with a game against St. Anthony Village at 10:00am Friday at Joe Faber Field.

  EXELAND, Wis. -- The Duluth Padres defeated the Blooming Valley Blue Devils 4-3 in their first game and lost to the Exeland Braves 10-3 in their second game in a three-team round-robin tournament in Exeland, Wis. Both games were non-league and lasted seven innings.

  HIBBING -- Proctor advanced to the section championship for the first time since 1984 as the Rails defeated Virginia 1-0 and Mora 13-3 in five innings in the Section 7AA semifinals at Hibbing's Al Nyberg Field on Tuesday evening.

  MOOSE LAKE - One of the most exciting and tightest games in high school playoffs isn’t necessarily the section finals, but rather the #4 vs. #5 seed matchup. This game is usually the most evenly matched game of the first couple of rounds and typically results in a close score. Today’s game between Moose Lake-Willow River and Cloquet was no exception, with the Rebels coming away with the hard fought 5-3 win.

  BARNUM - Wins haven’t exactly come in bunches for the Barnum Boys Baseball Team this year. After starting the season 0-6, the Bombers have shown steady improvement. On Tuesday Barnum proved just how dangerous of a team they can be when hitting on all cylinders by beating rival Moose Lake-Willow River by a score of 7-3.

  CROSBY, Minn. - Proctor responded in a big way and improved to 14-1 with a 13-2 win in a non-conference baseball game at Crosby. The game was shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule.

  PROCTOR -- Duluth Central stopped Proctor's 13-game win streak with an 8-2 victory over the Rails in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game at Proctor. Central had a 15-hit attack and scored seven runs in the last three innings.

  Walking into the Cloquet vs. Fargo Shanley baseball game on Saturday, one could tell things were a bit different; you could hear the crack of the bat rather than a ping. The reason was the game was being played with wood bats rather than Aluminum. In the afternoon matinee game Fargo Shanley defeated the Lumberjacks by a score of 15-3 in five innings.
