Hawks Back In Championship Game Against Park Center
June 9 MANKATO - Katie Thun tied the tournament record for doubles in a state tournament with four as the Hermantown Hawks won two games and advanced to the state championship game for the third straight year. The Hawks ten-runned the Governors of St. Paul Johnson and won 10-0 in six innings, then in the state semi-finals they Hawks beat the Cougars of Mankato East by a score of 4-2. Read more

June 2 COHASSETT- It was a four run fifth inning that would be the only difference in the section 7AA girls softball game between the Cloquet Lumberjacks and the Hermantown Hawks. The four runs scored were the only runs for either team as the Hawks defended their sectional crown and defeated the Lumberjacks by a score of 4-0. Read more
Carlton Nearly Pulls Out Section Final Win
June 2 CLOQUET - The dream of a first-ever state tournament berth for the Carlton Bulldog softball program came to an end when Cherry-Cotton catcher Macey Etter drilled a long base-hit to left field scoring Angel Dahl with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. May 31 After a heaartbreaking eight inning defeat to Isle, The Barnum Bomers responded in a big way by beating Upsala 13-3 in 5 innings to start the day on Tuesday. The Bombers then revenged the tough Thursday loss to Isle with a15-5 drubbing in the second game to move on to the 5A girls softball section finals. Read more

May 26 CLOQUET - A seven run second inning turned the game in favor of Moose Lake-Willow River on Tuesday afternoon in the Section 7AA girls softball quarterfinals against Virginia. The Rebels rode that early lead to a 10-6 win over the Blue Devils and have a date with Cloquet in Cohasset in the Final Four Tournament next Tuesday. Read more
Bulldogs Advance In Section 7A Softball Playoffs
May 26 COHASSET - Two games into the Section 7A softball playoffs and so far the results are the same as the regular season for the Carlton Bulldogs, two convincing victories. In opening round action on Tuesday the Bulldogs defeated Hill City by a 12-2 score in five innings. Thursday saw Section 7a second round playoff action move to Portage Park in Cohasset with the Bulldogs defeating Little Fork-Big Falls by a score of 8-3. Read more

May 24 BARNUM – It took a while for things to get going for the Barnum softball team in their Section 5A playoff game against McGregor on Tuesday night. Some errors and misplayed balls had the he Bombers trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, but they came alive and scored ten unanswered runs to win the game 13-3 against the Mercs. The Eskomos have found wins hard to come by and on Tuesday night they lost a heartbreaker to Two Harbors when the Agates rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the last inning to be Esko 3-2 in the opening round of the Section 7AA softball tournament. June 12, 2010 MANKATO- Hermantown pitcher Megan Mullen had thoughts of a second state championship to cap off her softball career at Hermantown High School. Mullen was a dominant force for the Hawks for the past several seasons and led them to the state championship in 2009. May 31 COHASSET - The Hermantown Hawks are in the drivers seat for another trip to the Minnesota State High School Girls Softball Tournament after winning both games yesterday in the double-elimination Section 7AA tournament in Cohasset. The Hawks will face Cloquet in the title game, but the Jacks would need to win twice in order to make only their second trip in school history to the Big Show. Read more

May 31 COHASSET- Tuesday afternoon saw the Rebels of Moose Lake-Willow River looking to pull more upsets and continue on in the Section 7AA double elimination playoffs, but the Rebels bats were silent for most of the afternoon as the Rebels fell twice on Tuesday and were eliminated from the Section 7AA playoffs. May 21 DULUTH- In the rain and drizzle Saturday, on the campus of the University of Minnesota- Duluth, the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels found a comfort zone unlike they have seen all season long as the Rebels pounded out 22 hits in five innings with the Rebels defeating the Duluth Marshal Hilltoppers by a score of 25-1.
