  Sunday night brought to a close the 2010 points chase at the Proctor Speedway with several classes coming down to the wire providing some exciting racing action.

  PROCTOR - Kyle Peterlin's new Rocket Chassis by A. J. Diemel has propelled the young Late Model driver to a top three in WISSOTA National points. Since its debut he has won several feature events and finished well in others. Sunday night at the Proctor Speedway he won his second straight 25 lap feature and fourth of the season.

  SUPERIOR - Just as the fans started to file into the Superior Speedway for the Como Oil and Propane Modified series race at the Superior Speedway the skies opened up and the rain came down. The good news is it only lasted for a short time.

  PROCTOR - Kyle Peterlin of Hibbing has been on a roll as of late since fielding the new car and on Sunday night recorded his second Late Model feature win of the weekend.

  PROCTOR - Sunday night July 18 was the third annual Race for a Cure event to benefit the American Cancer Society. It was also an enhanced purse for the WISSOTA Super Stocks with the winner taking home $1000 and the final finisher winning $100.

  Mid-Summer Mayham returned to the Proctor speedway on Friday night. The highlight of the event was school bus races, other items on tap to entertain the capacity crowd were pure stocks and trailer racing.

  It was Proctor/Duluth Fair racing Wednesday July 7 at the Proctor Speedway featuring two classes of cars racing for points. In the case of the Proctor Pure Stocks, track points and for the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds both track and national points.22 Pure Stocks and 19 Midwest Modifieds came to compete at a rare midweek show on the three eighths mile clay track.

  The 25 lap late model feature started with a false start but the next try was good and pole sitter Dave Esse raced away from the pack. However a caution flag flew for a tangle between Kevin Carlson, George Ledin and Jeff Lien in turn three. Greg Ferris and Don Copp were also peripheral participants. Ledin got the ticket for the incident and was sent to the back of the pack.

  It was finally a very nice night weather wise at the Superior Speedway Friday night. There were only four classes running with the Modifieds having the night off. The night was sponsored by Jimmy’s Saloon in Billings Park. There was also a burn out show put on during the intermission for the fans.

  PROCTOR - Jad Carlson of Duluth dominated the WISSOTA Modified 20 lap feature Sunday night at the Proctor Speedway. Carlson started on the pole and got the jump on Ken Hron at the green flag. Hron fell into the clutches of, Nick Lavato, Greg Chesley and Steve Stuart as they went three wide for second. Stuart squirted through to second as Hron; Chesley tried the three wide move again. Chesley got squeezed off the back stretch falling back to eleventh.

  SUPERIOR - After two weeks of rain the crew at the Superior Speedway did everything they could to get the track in racing condition. Even without the predicted sun the rain held off and the track was ready to race. It was also the annual Russ Laursen Classic sponsored by the Shack in Superior, the race was named after the great racer who died unfortunately in 1970.

  PROCTOR - Hermantown's Darrell Nelson won a hard fought flag to flag 30 lap Modified main event Sunday night at the Proctor Speedway. It was the opening salvo for the 2010 Como Oil & Propane Modified Series and drew 50 WISSOTA AMSOIL Dirt Track Series Modifieds. They were greeted with as perfect a dirt track as is possible as there was plenty of traction and multiple racing grooves.

 Tonight's 38th annual Black Bear Resort Casino Silver 1000 at the Proctor Speedway has been cancelled.  The popular, long running late model event will be rescheduled for Thursday, September 30th.

  SUPERIOR - The weather finally cooperated on the final regular race night of the season at the Superior Speedway on Friday and a great crowd was on hand to watch some great racing.

  PROCTOR - Kevin Burdick won his second straight WISSOTA Super Stock feature Sunday night at the Proctor Speedway. It was also Burdick’s second career feature win in a WISSOTA division since moving from the Pure Stocks. Other winners included Kyle Peterlin, WISSOTA Late Models in a thriller over Darrell Nelson, Skeeter Estey in the Midwest Modifieds, Ryan Aho in the WISSOTA Modifieds and Dustin Follett in the Proctor Pure Stocks.

  PROCTOR - Darrell Nelson and Justin Fegers each won a 25 lap segment of the fifth annual AMSOIL Twin Ports Twin 25's and pocketed $1500 each for the wins. There was a bonus of $500 for the driver with the best average finish in each feature and one of $1000 for the driver who could win both events. No driver has managed to pull that feat off in the four year history of the event and that held true through the 2010 version.

  SUPERIOR, WI - After a week off for the Head of the Lakes fair the racers and fans were ready for a good night of racing at the Superior Speedway and that is what they got on Friday night. The night was sponsored by Kimmes Tire and Oil and Whelen Engineering.

  SUPERIOR, WI - Jimmy Mars left no doubt on Thursday night that he has Superior Speedway figured out. Continuing his recent mastery of special events at the three-eighths-mile oval in his home state, Mars rocketed from the fourth starting spot to the lead on the opening lap and never looked back en route to a convincing victory in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Mid-States Hydraulics 50.

  SUPERIOR - The day that Brady Smith circled on his calendar months ago has finally arrived. On Thursday night (July 8), the World of Outlaws Late Model Series makes an inaugural stop in his backyard, visiting his former hometrack, Superior Speedway, for the Mid-States Hydraulics 50 that is part of the circuit’s annual Wild West Tour.

  PROCTOR - After qualifying heats were completed it was time to bring out the five feature events beginning with the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. The first lap proved to be a problem as the field failed to make it through the first turn. Ross Sitter, Adam Archer, Johnny Broking, Jimmy Latvala and Neil Balducall tangled. Archer was done for the event and Latvala was forced to dive into the pits to replace a flat tire.

  SUPERIOR - There must have been something similar in the air as there was opening night at the Superior Speedway Friday as three of the five classes from opening night had repeat winners in week two. It was also senior night with all Senior Citizens getting into the grandstand for free.

PROCTOR - Sunday night despite somewhat threatening weather, a good crowd of fans took advantage of the Northland News Center Jam the Stands night featuring $6 adult tickets. 91 cars in five divisions filled the pits for a night of competitive WISSOTA AMSOIL Dirt Track Series racing. With a track surface that was twice as good as the opening night, competition was sure to be very close.

  Proctor Speedway opened the race track on Saturday for its spring Enduro race. Kevin Sullivan of Superior took first place honors with a 105 lap effort.
