CEC Gets 4-2 Win Over Denfeld Behind Scheuer's Stellar Goaltending
Jan 19, 2012 New rules of enforcing boarding penalties came into play in the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey win over Denfeld on Thursday night. With the game tied at 1-1 midway through the third period, the Hunters were called for a boarding penalty and the Lumberjacks scored twice during the five-minute major as CEC went on for a 4-2 win. Jan 14, 2012 The Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors has approved a recommendation to stiffen several penalties in hockey that become effective immediately. The goal is to continue the League’s efforts to reduce and remove dangerous contact that has led to severe injuries to players.

On Thursday night the Hermantown Hawks killed all six penalties by blocking shots, digging hard along the walls and basically suffocating Duluth Marshall. Mar 12 St. Thomas Academy overcame a slow start and managed to eke out a 5-4 overtime victory over the Hermantown Hawks in the Minnesota State High School Class A Hockey Tournament championship game on Saturday afternoon.
