U.S. Womens U-22 Team Falls To Canada

Sept 2, 2010 TORONTO, Ont. - Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.) and Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.) each scored, but the U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team fell to Canada, 7-2 in the final game of the Women's Under-22 Series on August 21. Read more

Mar 10 Since the inception of the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey program there has been only one person at the helm steering the ship as head coach. However, starting next season Dick Bartholdi will no longer be the head coach of the program, following a decision to take it in a different direction within the past two weeks. Read more
K1 Girls All-Star Game Held In Cloquet
Mar 2 CLOQUET - The fifth annual Fire and Ice All-Star Girl's hockey game was played at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center last night with Team Fire winning 5-2. Although the shots were a bit over what a regular game would be, the game was a hard fought, entertaining, all-out effort type of game rather than an exhibition style all-star event seen at higher levels of competition. PHM Falls In First Round Action
Feb 25 St. Paul - Making their first ever state tournament appearance, the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall Mirage had high hopes. A bit of a slow start and a hat trick by Roseville’s Kayla Capistrant dashed those hopes, however. The Mirage fell in opening round action to Roseville by a score of 7-2. Read more

Feb 11 Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall exploded for three goals in the first and third periods on Thursday night as they rolled to a 6-0 win in the Section 7AA girls hockey playoffs over Cambridge-Isanti. Read more

Feb 7 The X-Factor in the Section 7AA girls hockey tournament turned out to be Elk River. The Elks gained the #1 seed in the section, which effectively moved Cloquet-Esko-Carlton down to a #4 seed and a first-round game versus Duluth. Read more
CEC Girls Skate To 1-1 Tie With Bemidji

Feb 5 It took a late goal by a senior captain and a tremendous night in the nets from another senior captain, but in the end the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team had just enough to pull out a 1-1 road tie with Bemidji on Friday night. The win brings the Lumberjack Axe back to Cloquet. The Axe is a traveling trophy between the two schools who share the same mascot name. CEC earned the Axe last year with a win and the tie kept the trophy in Cloquet for another season. Read more

Jan 24 Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall laid claim to being the top local girls hockey team on Saturday with a 4-2 win over the Duluth Northern Stars in the final outdoor hockey game of Hockey Day in Hermantown, Minnesota on Saturday. The Mirage raced to a 3-0 lead and then added an empty net goal at the end of the game to take the victory. Read more

June 8 UW-Superior Head Women's Hockey Coach Dan Laughlin has announced the 2010-2011 recruit class at a press conference on Tuesday at UWS. Courtney Esse of Cloquet leads the recruiting class of the 2010-2011 for the UWS Yellow Jackets. Also from Minnesota will be Hannah Buchite from Hermantown. Read more

Feb 18 DULUTH - A year ago the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall girls hockey team felt the sting of a Section 7AA championship loss. On Thursday night, however, the Mirage felt the exhilaration of winning the sectional championship as they defeated Elk River 4-0 behind the shut out goaltending of Anja Morris and the scoring of Emma Stauber. MLA Girls Lose On Overtime Penalty Shot

Jan 11 It was a bizarre ending to a great game on Thursday night as the Hibbing/Chisholm Blue Jackets defeated Moose Lake Area 3-2 in overtime. The game winning goal in the first round of the Section 7A playoffs was scored on a penalty shot by Maddy Wheelcor after she had also tied the game with a goal late in the second period. Read more

Feb 11 It is easy to be a gracious winner in sports, but it is extremely difficult to be gracious in defeat. A show of class by Cloquet-Esko-Carlton senior forward Courtney Esse proved to be a tell-all moment of the leadership this senior has provided for her team this season. The Jacks were bounced from the Section 7AA tournament in the quarterfinal round at home in the Cloquet Area Recreation Center. Read more

Feb 1 CLOQUET - It was parent’s night for the seniors at Cloquet as the CEC Lumberjacks took on Hibbing/Chisholm in high school girls hockey. The Lumberjacks tossed 38 shots on Blue Jacket goalie Dory Johnson, but only one got past the sophomore as CEC came away with a 1-0 victory. Read more

Jan 28 Seeding for the upcoming Section 7AA girls hockey playoffs should be interesting again this season. Last year, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton took the #3 seed and ended up winning the section title. Jan 16 Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall found out just how good the #1 ranked Class A girls team in the state of Minnesota really is. The Mirage, playing at home in Hermantown, was throttled by the Warroad Warriors 8-0 in a game that went into running time. In fact, Warroad outshot the Mirage 39-16 in picking up the road win.
